The Swedish Migration Agency (Migrationsverket)

In Sweden, the Migration Agency is the authority that considers applications from people who want to take up permanent residence in Sweden, come for a visit, seek protection from persecution or become Swedish citizens.

The Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket)

The Swedish Tax Agency manages civil registration of private individuals and collects taxes such as personal income tax, corporate tax, VAT and excise tax. Skatteverket also deals with population registration in Sweden. It is from them that you receive you personnummer (personal ID-number).

The Swedish Social Insurance Agency (Försäkringskassan)

Försäkringskassan is a government agency that administers the social insurance system in Sweden. They determine who is eligible and the amount in order to issue social insurance payments according to state rules and regulations.
